It has its roots in the very first Alumni Awards conferred in March 1977 on five distinguished MaSci graduates: men and women with notable achievements in their chosen fields, deemed ideal role models worthy of emulation for the current crop of MaScians.

The 2023 ATOM Awards Winners Announced
October 11, 2023 | MSHSAFI BOT Member Norlie Quesada (1981)
The Manila Science High School Alumni Foundation, Inc. (MSHSAFI/MaSci Foundation) announces the newest batch of ATOM Awardees in time for the school’s 60th Anniversary:
Ms. Jenneth Beloy Doria (1973) – Social Development
Mr. Raul L. Ignacio (1976) – Science and Technology
Lt Gen Rowen S. Tolentino (1985) – Government Service
Dr. Ryan Borja Capitulo (1990) – Medical, Health & Allied Fields
Ms. Maria Regina Corazon Sevilla Sibal (1996) – Education and Formation
Congratulations to the winners! Thank you for your significant contributions in your respective fields and to society.
Ms. Jenneth Beloy Doria, DNP, MS, RN is both an excellent educator in the field of nursing and a compassionate humanitarian service leader, with diverse contributions to improving the quality of life of people locally and abroad.
After earning a BSN degree from the University of the Philippines, she migrated to Hawaii in 1979 and eventually moved to Utah to pursue higher education and prepare herself for a higher calling from God to serve humanity.
From practicing the nursing profession in various US hospitals, she later on started teaching and is now an Associate Professor (Clinical) at the University of Utah. Throughout her teaching career, she has conducted research, lectures, informal mentoring, and actively served in various school committees. All these benefited the students and the community as well.
Ms. Doria has held key positions in various organizations. She co-founded and served as the President from 2012 to the present of the Improving Health, Housing, Education, and Livelihood of the Poor of the Philippines (IHHELPP). Her 10-year involvement in IHHELPP enabled her to spearhead projects for needy Filipinos like donating food, clothes and PPEs during the pandemic, feeding program for indigenous children, and building bathrooms with handwashing areas in schools and disaster-resilient houses. She has received awards from her universities here and abroad for her humanitarian services.
Mr. Raul L. Ignacio has more than 35 years of experience in engineering, construction, and maintenance of roads and bridges. He joined Manila North Tollways Corp (MNTC, the predecessor of NLEX Corp.) in November 1998 as Head of Project Controls. He led the planning, design, and construction of the Subic Freeport expressway and tunnel; constructed and completed the NLEX and the NLEX Harbor Link; rehabilitated and maintained SCTEX; and constructed the NLEX Connector.
His 20 years of leading and managing construction, operations, and maintenance of the expressways have his stamp of excellence — the confluence of world-class construction quality, built with road safety standards, motorist-centricity, and business acumen is very Raul Ignacio. It is widely recognized that the expressways that he built are game-changers in the economic development of provinces such as Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, and all the way up to Baguio, and significantly contributed to the country’s trade, mobility, and tourism being the main artery of North Luzon.
In 2020, he became the President and General Manager of Metro Pacific Tollways Mobility Corp (MPT Mobility), the mobility infrastructure arm of the holding company Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC). Under his helm, Raul placed equity in a modern jeepney network company. This was to move forward the business unit’s thrust for sustainable transportation and to complete the MPTC mobility ecosystem so as to better serve the motoring public. This investment came at the heels of his launch of the tollways group’s first-ever motorist travel app, MPT DriveHub—an innovation to put expressways and mobility services on the mobile phones of customers.
In 2022, he was appointed President and General Manager of MPT South Management Corporation, the business unit that manages CAVITEx, constructs CaLaX, and will break ground for Cavite-Batangas Expressway (CBEx), an expressway recently forged by the partnership of conglomerate giants led by business tycoons Manny V. Pangilinan and Ramon S. Ang.
Mr. Ignacio is from MaSci Batch 1976, graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and completed the Executive Development Program from The Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania, USA, in 2016.
Lt Gen Rowen S. Tolentino’s laudable achievements as military officer, various military and civilian schoolings, and his exemplary commitment to military service led him to the highest position in his Alma Mater, the Philippine Military Academy. Lt Gen Tolentino belongs to the PMA “Makatao” Class of 1989. He was confirmed as a three-star general last December 2022 and took his oath last February 2023.
On August 12, 2022, then Maj Gen Tolentino became the 83rd Superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy, the 1st PMA superintendent with a four-year fixed tour of duty as mandated by RA 11709 which took effect on July 1, 2022. He has a direct hand in the education, training, and development of men and women officer-scholars destined not only to defend, but also to contribute to the pursuit of peace and progress in our country and in the future.
From July 27, 2021 to August 2022, he served as the 42nd commander of the 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division of the Philippine Army stationed in Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal. Barely a month as the commander of 2ID, Philippine Army’s primary infantry unit specializing in jungle warfare commander, Maj Gen Tolentino humbly paid a courtesy call to the local chief executive of the province of Rizal as an explicit gesture of recognition and respect for civilian authorities over the military.
On December 20, 2019, Brig Gen Tolentino became the 54th Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army and earned his two stars rank in February 2020. As Chief of Staff, he played a significant role in ensuring the effective and efficient orchestration of efforts among the general, special, technical staff, and personnel down the line. His high regard for the personnel’s morale and welfare and his efforts in overseeing plans, policies, and doctrines on human resources steered the Army to the continuous accomplishment of its DOTESS functions.
